Above Ash Cave

Ash Cave Falls

Ash Cave Falls

I was hoping for a little more water at Ash Cave this morning, but I’ll take what nature provides me at this point.  This Hocking Hills waterfall photo was taken above Ash Cave using a Nikon D700 and a Nikkor 24-70 2.8.  F22 @ 3sec  iso 100.   Hopefully I can time the flow better next time for more impact.  Thanks for viewing!    Vince

Today I was fortunate to make a quick trip to Hocking Hills in search of a few detail shots.  I visited Ash Cave and then headed over to Cedar Falls.  Here is a one of the stream details I settled on at Cedar Falls.   Please visit my landscape gallery to view more images from today – http://vincentnobel.zenfolio.com/  Thanks for viewing! – Vince

Blackwater Falls State Park Abstract

Elakala Falls Abstract

Elakala Falls Abstract

Blackwater Falls State Park in Davis, WV is a wonderful area to visit and photograph with it’s wide range of flora, waterfalls, and streams.  I just love the look of the “black water” which is the result of leached tannic acids from the decomposed fallen hemlock and red spruce.   Unfortunately, the massive amounts of recent rain produced a torrent of water over many of the falls resulting in less than desirable conditions for waterfall photography.  However, since I focus on close-up and macro, I jumped at the opportunity to improvise and create an image out of less than ideal conditions using my macro lens of course!    This image is from the rushing waters of Elakala Falls.  Hopefully, I’ll make it back this fall for some calmer waters!  Thanks for viewing ~ Vince

2011 Glen Helen Calendar

Glen Helen Nature Preserve located in Yellow Springs, OH is one of my favorite places to hike and photograph.   The preserve contains an extensive network of trails with views of 400 year-old trees, limestone cliffs,  waterfalls, wildflowers, and the  yellow spring.   My photograph, Yellow Spring #2 will be featured in the 2011 Glen Helen Calendar, which will be available this fall.  Check out the Glen Helen website for more information about this beautiful preserve.  Thanks! – Vince

Clifton Gorge – Amphitheater Falls

My quick trip to Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve in Yellow Springs turned even quicker with the arrival of  a thunderstorm.   I did manage to get off a few shots of Amphitheater Falls.  I can’t say enough about my LowePro Backpack, which kept my camera and gear secure and dry!
