Blackwater Falls State Park in Davis, WV is a wonderful area to visit and photograph with it’s wide range of flora, waterfalls, and streams. I just love the look of the “black water” which is the result of leached tannic acids from the decomposed fallen hemlock and red spruce. Unfortunately, the massive amounts of recent rain produced a torrent of water over many of the falls resulting in less than desirable conditions for waterfall photography. However, since I focus on close-up and macro, I jumped at the opportunity to improvise and create an image out of less than ideal conditions using my macro lens of course! This image is from the rushing waters of Elakala Falls. Hopefully, I’ll make it back this fall for some calmer waters! Thanks for viewing ~ Vince
