Color and Black and White

Love... Yes, it's possible to love more than one. Let me explain. I often see photographers soliciting feedback on black and white vs colour versions of a particular photograph. Sometimes it's simple. Other times, not so much. I may prefer black and white, stripped of colour to reveal texture or nuance in transitions and tone. If I’m using the image in a broader thematic body of work I will stay consistent keeping all monochrome or all colour. However, I find I can’t always escape colour and this is where it can get complicated. Certain colours convey emotion and mood, creating an impact on the viewer. I may have been initially drawn to the scene by colour and can’t live without its presence. It’s complicated and difficult to decide. In a few select situations I've learned not to dwell too much. I struggle, go back and forth and just decide not to decide. Here's a couple examples -
